For this reason, we lose what is most important in motorsport - innovation and drive towards improving the efficiency of cars. Nissan decided to take a chance and help design a unique car, called the DeltaWing.
Looking at DeltaWinga almost every element seems to be different than all the famous race cars. Distance between the front wheels is minimal, and the same tires on the front are only 10 inches wide. Surprising is the lack of spoilers, because all the pressure comes from the unusual structure, including the shape of a triangular wing, which is also used in the construction of military fighters. By applying such a concept DeltaWing has extremely low drag coefficient equal to 0.24 - is almost twice lower than in the LMP class of closed structures and more than three times lower than in the Formula 1 cars
That DeltaWing is different than all the race cars can be proved or unusual weight distribution - 27.5 percent. falls on the front axle and as much as 72.5 percent. on the rear wheels. This mass is not large. Total construction completes atypical small engine developed by Nissan. 4-cylinder 1.6-liter delivers 300 hp, which is very little for car racing, but it shows what is the purpose of the project - to create an extremely efficient vehicle that is fast, and at the same burns significantly less fuel and tire wear much less than conventional structures.
